2018 Travel Award Recipients

Congratulations to our 2018 Travel Award Recipients!

This year five individuals were chosen to receive $500 for travel to conferences:

Jessica Jones attended the Molecular Parasitology Meeting in Woods Hole, MA and presented “Dissecting the mechanisms of glucose signaling in Trypanosoma brucei.”

Avinash Mukkala attended the 67th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in New Orleans, LA and presented “Comparison of Whole-Genome Sequencing, Sanger Sequencing, and Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism Analysis for Leishmania Viannia Mixed and Hybrid Infection Species Identification.”

Sarah Pangburn attended the Molecular Parasitology Meeting in Woods Hole, MA and presented “Developing a Detection Method for Trypanosoma congolense in Various Mouse Tissue Types.”

Roger Ramirez-Barrios attended the 63rd Annual Meeting of American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists in Denver, Colorado and presented “Differentially expressed proteins in two Trypanosoma vivax strains with different patterns of virulence and pathogenicity in sheep.”

Ankash Sur attended the Human Genetic Variation and Disease Conference in Biddeford, ME and presented “Unveiling the Elements of Genomic Architecture in Leishmania with Chromatin Conformation Capture.”
