2015 Travel Award Recipients

Congratulations to our 2015 Travel Award Recipients!

This year nine individuals were chosen to receive $500 for travel to conferences:

Elisha Mugo at RNA SocietyElisha Mugo attended the 20th Annual Meeting of the RNA Society. The meeting was held from May 26-31, 2015, in Madison, Wisconsin. Elisha presented “Developmentally regulated RBP10 acts as a translation repressor and associates with an eIF4E-binding protein” during the poster session.

 

 

Sandra Isabel Gonçalves Trindade at GRC

Sandra Isabel Goncalves Trindade attended the Gordon Research Conference on Molecular and Cellular Biology of Lipids from July 26-31, 2015, in Waterville Valley, NH. Sandra presented “Metabolic consequences of trypanosome parasite accumulation in adipose tissue.”

Susanne Kramer at Heidelberg

 

Susanne Kramer attended the Protein Synthesis and Translational Control Meeting. The meeting was held from September 9-13, 2015, in Heidelberg, Germany. Susanne presented “Trapping RNP granules in the trypanosome’s cage” during the poster session.

 

 

 

 

 

Filipa Ferreira and Tony Szempruch at Woods Hole

Filipa Ferreira and Anthony Szempuch attended the 2015 (26th) Annual Molecular Parasitology Meeting. The meeting was held from September 20-24, 2015, in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Filipa presented “Trypanosoma brucei infection accelerates the mouse circadian clock” and Anthony presented “Bloodstream Form Trypanosoma brucei Extracellular Vesicles Mediate Virulence Factor Transfer and Host Anemia.”

 

Surendra Jain at ASTMH 2015Surendra Jain attended the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 64th Annual Meeting, 2015. The meeting was held from October 25-29, 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Surendra presented “Inhibitors of Na+, K+-ATPase and related ion anti-porter functions as new antileishmanial drug leads.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jeannie Stubblefield will attend the American Society for Pharmacognosy Annual Meeting.

Aubie Shaw will attend the XXXI Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society of Protozoology/XLII Annual Meeting on Basic Research in Chagas’ Disease.

Sumaira Kanwal will attend the Kinetoplastid Molecular Cell Biology Meeting VII in 2017.
